Rural Community Broadband -
GreySky is working with the Leader programme in Northumberland to solve the problem of broadband in the rural Uplands area. Funding has been secured and the project is now seeking to identify an infrastructure and service provider to deliver broadband in Northumberland.
Services
The aim of the project is to provide services in rural Northumberland similar to
those available in more rural areas. This means that a wide range of ISPs should
be available, including the popular nationally available services and free services.
The services should be available at normal market prices (the same as in towns)
to encourage take-

The principal goal of the project is to improve the broadband services available in the Northumberland Uplands area. The following objectives have been identified:

Process
The ITT will follow GreySky’s standard procurement process for strategic supplies to meet the requirements of the EU Open Procurement route.
Timescales
Proposals have now been received and assessed. A preferred supplier has been identified. However, the contract cannot be completed until state aid requirements have been satisfied.
