Making a difference...

The ability to encourage and support business success is vital to our future economic strength.  Traditionally, big businesses have been at the heart of the UK’s economic strength.  The recent economic conditions have shown that this needs to change.

Small enterprises can be far more flexible than traditional big businesses.  They can adapt more quickly to changing conditions, and can be far more resilient in difficult times.

Encouraging and supporting enterprise development isn’t easy.  “Low enterprise areas” can be notoriously difficult to change.  But it is possible.  

Infrastructure, skills, support, opportunity...

Increasing business start-ups and survival very often means getting the basics right - for each specific area.  What is right for an industrial town is unlikely to work in remote rural areas.  GreySky’s dedication to supporting enterprise development has allowed us to develop a range of focused skills to help put the pieces into place.

Build it and they will come?

Simply creating new office space doesn’t guarantee new businesses.  But business does have basic infrastructure needs.  One of the vital infrastructure needs of recent times has been broadband access.  The internet has revolutionised the way businesses can operate, and broadband has brought the revolution within reach of even the smallest businesses.  It is essential that all businesses have access to broadband, and the skills to use it effectively.

Mentoring and support is one of the most important factors in keeping businesses going when life gets tough.  GreySky provides mentoring and support through a number of different organisations - including the Prince’s Trust and the Institute of Digital Innovation.  With our partners we can also establish mentoring and support programmes as a part of our wider enterprise development initiatives.
