James Saunby

GreySky founder and Consulting Director

As Consulting Director, James provides the leadership for all of GreySky’s projects. James is a “hands-on” leader, providing key technical and commercial expertise in the development, deployment and application of advanced digital connectivity.

James formed GreySky in 2005 based on a career in the UK IT and telecoms sector. In his corporate career, James introduced BT's first voice over internet service in the UK, helped Advantage West Midlands accelerate the availability of Broadband for small businesses throughout the West Midlands region, and helped Sage (UK) to retain the market leadership of their accounting software products. This ability to deliver critical business results through clear understanding of market requirements now forms the basis of GreySky's core services.

As a board member of INCA (Independent Networks Co-operative Association) and a fellow of the IET (Institution of Engineering and Technology), James takes a leading role in the development of the next generation digital sector.

Eddie Murphy

He was project manager for the project which became the first Broadband Wales programme with £135 million being spent on improving broadband coverage across Wales. He also worked for Forfás in the Republic of Ireland and wrote a high profile report (Broadband Telecommunications Investment in Ireland) which was published by Forfás and led to liberalising the Irish telecommunications market two years ahead of the EU deadline. Since leaving Analysys, Eddie has worked on broadband roll-out projects across the United Kingdom, developed digital strategies for local authorities and worked with broadband providers to develop network deployments, seek funding and assess their competitive position.
